Southern Biscuit Recipe

Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup lard or cold butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Slowly add buttermilk, stirring until the dough comes together.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead.
- Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.
- Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
- Serve with butter and honey for breakfast.
- Use as a base for biscuits and gravy.
- Make breakfast sandwiches with eggs and bacon.
- Pair with soups and stews for a hearty meal.
- Enjoy as a side with fried chicken or barbecue.
