Southern Biscuit Recipe

Notes

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup lard or cold butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Slowly add buttermilk, stirring until the dough comes together.
  5. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead.
  6. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!
