Homemade Garlic Salt Recipe
🌿 Homemade Garlic Salt Recipe
Why make your own?
Homemade garlic salt packs so much more flavor than store-bought. Because you're grinding the dried garlic fresh, the result is potent, aromatic, and customizable.
🧄 Ingredients
-
3 parts salt (sea salt or Himalayan pink salt work great)
-
1 part garlic powder (from home-dried garlic or store-bought)
-
1 part dried parsley (or other herb: thyme, oregano, rosemary)
-
Optional: A small pinch of  arrowroot powder to prevent clumping
🔥 How to Make It
-
Prepare & Dry Garlic
-
Peel and slice your garlic cloves.
-
Dry in a dehydrator (I use my Excalibur) or a freeze-dryer until completely crisp.
-
Store the dried garlic in airtight jars with oxygen absorbers for later use.
-
Make Garlic Powder
-
Grind the dried garlic into a fine powder using a spice grinder or coffee grinder.
-
Mix
-
Combine your garlic powder with salt and herbs in the ratio above.
-
Add a tiny bit of cornstarch or arrowroot if you’re worried about moisture or clumping.
-
Store
-
Keep in an airtight container, preferably in a cool, dark place.
-
A shaker lid makes this easy to use on everything!
✨ Pro Tips
-
Want smoky flavor? Add smoked salt.
-
Like a chunkier texture? Pulse just a few times instead of grinding to a fine powder.
-
Try herb variations depending on what you have growing!
